Welcome

Hello and welcome to our site. Here can be found helpful information about visits to the “Poppy Country”.
Whether travelling alone, with family or friends or as part of a larger group, visit the museum to see what is on offer.
Each year during the winter period of closure, full advantage is taken of the opportunity to update and improve the collection in order that returning visitors find something new each time.
Situated at the heart of the battlefields of the Somme, the Musée Somme 1916 follows the soldiers into the trenches of the 1916 offensive.
10 m underground and in a 250 m long tunnel can be found a series of scenes portraying the daily life of the troops. Original items bring to life this turbulent period of history. Time may pass but the memory lives on.
Information and guiding is available in 4 languages (English, French, Dutch, German)
On leaving the museum via the souvenir shop visitors find themselves in Albert’s public garden through which winds the river Ancre.
